For the third consecutive year, the California 300 Desert Cleanup presented by Tread Lightly! brought numerous off-road enthusiasts to the Stoddard Valley OHV area to remove trash from the area before October 2-6’s California 300. UNLTD Off-Road Racing officials are pleased to announce that the California 300 Desert Cleanup has now surpassed 50,000 pounds of trash pickup in its three-year history, with 12.3 tons of trash (24,600 pounds) removed in Saturday’s event.

“The California 300 Desert Cleanup is one of the most important parts of the Great Golden State Off-Road Race,” said UNLTD CEO Matt Martelli. “Thank you as always to Tread Lightly! and all our other partners for their support in this crucial initiative. It takes an effort from all of us to keep the desert clean so we’re all able to continue enjoying it and putting on major events like the California 300 each year. We’re incredibly proud to have surpassed the 25-ton mark for lifetime trash removal with this year’s event!”

Desert Cleanup events are a staple of pre-race festivities for all UNLTD events, including the California 300, Parker 400, and BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400. These events unite the off-road community to clean up waste illegally dumped in race areas, promoting sustainable habits and responsible public land use to improve desert landscapes across the southwestern United States.

Participants in the California 300 Desert Cleanup received an event T-shirt and were entered into a raffle for thousands of dollars worth of donated off-road parts, accessories, and swag from industry leading companies. As in past years, the Desert Cleanup coincided with the California 300 Poker Run, which allowed racers and enthusiasts alike to drive their personal vehicles on the race course.

Attention now turns to the California 300 itself in two weeks. The race is expected to draw hundreds of competitors and thousands of spectators, alongside numerous high-profile brands. Attendees can anticipate a weekend filled with dynamic off-road racing, camping, and diverse entertainment offerings. This year, the livestream will also include live in-car coverage from multiple vehicles, providing a unique, racer’s-eye view of the competition.

The Off-Road Festival at the Start/Finish Midway will continue to be a hub of activity, featuring racing action and exhibits from leading off-road companies. The Main Stage will highlight race finishers and deliver ongoing updates about the event. Located conveniently near the entrance to the Stoddard Valley OHV area, just off the I-15 freeway, the Start/Finish Midway can be accessed by taking the Outlet Center Drive exit, heading east, and looking to your right.
