Vision Wheel Brings Home the Hardware at 2020 Baja 1000
Vision Wheel saved its best for last at the 2020 SCORE Baja 1000, the final event of the SCORE World Desert Championship and last major off-road race event of the year. Rob MacCachren scored second place overall in the premier Trophy Truck class, while class victories in both Trophy Truck Spec and Pro UTV Normally Aspirated divisions cemented an exceptional return to Ensenada.
With multiple past Baja 1000 winners in its lineup, expectations were high for this year’s race, and the team’s Trophy Truck lineup didn’t disappoint. Behind MacCachren’s runner-up finish, defending race winners Alan and Aaron Ampudia brought last year’s winning truck home in sixth after spending much of the race fighting for the overall win. Chris Miller’s 10th place finish capped off three Vision-backed entries in the Trophy Truck top 10.
In Trophy Truck Spec, meanwhile, Jeff Bader and Dan Fresh capped off their season with a Baja 1000 triumph, after getting the best of their rivals in a hard fought battle throughout the event. Not only did Bader and Fresh take the class victory, though, they also scored eighth place overall in the event—an impressive feat putting them right in the mix with some of the higher-powered trucks of the premier class.Top honors in the Pro UTV NA category went to the Raceco/Campbell Racing built Honda Talon, owned by Francisco Arredondo and driven by Arredondo, Cisco Bio, and Jamie Campbell. The trio nearly scored the overall UTV victory, placing second overall and within a minute of the top Forced Induction entry. Finally, Cole Johnson capped off podium honors for Vision’s decorated roster of athletes, as he placed third in the Hammertruck class.
