Off road racer, Brock Heger made a big weekend out of the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) 2019 final event hosted at Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park in Chandler, Arizona. Heger dove to three podiums, winning Round 9 in the Production 1000 UTV race, and two 2nd place finishes in the Challenge Cup UTV & Pro Lite events. Subsequently, Brock placed 2nd in points in both championships as the runner up. "It was a great year for the team and me," Heger reported. "We just won the Best In The Desert 6100 championship. That was a big one! I was in contention for two more this weekend for the Yamaha Motors USA YXZ 1000R and the #12 Maxxis Tires / Method Race Wheels / Icon Suspension Pro Lite. We did everything we could and had a decent run with three podiums.” Brock Heger Takes 3 Podium Finishes For Lucas Oil Off Road Final Round Brock Heger Results: - 1st Place Round 9 UTV Production 1000 - 2nd Place Pro Lite Challenge Cup - 2nd Place UTV Challenge Cup Going into the race weekend, Brock summarized the season and his expectations on the LOORRS finale, “I am feeling good. The first two Pro Lite rounds we DNF, so we have been chasing this thing all year. I was not looking at points. We were going out and doing everything we could to win races. The last part of the season, we poured it on to become a championship contender." Brock Heger Takes 3 Podium Finishes For Lucas Oil Off Road Final Round Heger continued, “I am focused and ready. The points in both classes are coming down to the wire in the last round. We are sitting in 2nd place, 10 points out. It's pretty exciting to be in this situation, especially considering we were out of it in the first two rounds. We are going to do our normal thing and go out for the win. We had a fast truck last time we were here in Arizona. I am ready to finish the year out strong, so we will see how it goes.” Brock was business, as usual, making top runs from the get-go in practice and only continued to get faster. The #12 Maxxis Tires Pro Lite was 3rd fastest in Practice Session 1 and 4th quick in Practice Session 2. Heger dialed it in and scored the top qualifying lap time with 39.805 seconds at 90.441 MPH on Lap 4. “P1 in qualifying today! I had a good run and ready for some racing!" Brock Heger Takes 3 Podium Finishes For Lucas Oil Off Road Final Round In the Yamaha Motors USA YXZ 1000R, Heger clocked off as 2nd fastest in Practice Session’s 1 & 2 with championship rival Robert Stout picking the top lap time. Brock would qualify 3rd fastest with Stout on the pole. The final round of Pro Lite racing had a big crowd locked in for a show. Heger started back in 6th place and was able to race up to 3rd by the end of Lap 1. The Maxxis Tires #12 continued to move forward and passed for 2nd place on Lap 4. Beginning on Lap 5, Heger faced off with a furious Mickey Thomas (also a points contender) and traded positions back & forth three different times for the lead. Aggressive contact put a tire down on Heger’s truck and he fell out of the race on Lap 12. “We qualified in P1 and because of the invert, we started in 6th," Brock explained. "I found myself in the lead early on, but because of contact from another driver, I got a flat with four laps to go. If I had finished 1st or 2nd, I would have gotten the championship." Brock Heger Takes 3 Podium Finishes For Lucas Oil Off Road Final Round The Production UTV 1000 race, featured Heger in the second row starting in 3rd place. At the green flag, Brock was able to pass Stout for 2nd position on Lap 1. The Yamaha Motors USA YXZ 1000R moved forward again, passing Myles Cheek for the lead on Lap 9. Brock easily won the race, but unfortunately, Stout played a smart card and cruised in for an excellent finish keeping the points in his favor. “We won the race and did what we were supposed to do. Five points only separated us from the championship, so that is a bummer." Brock Heger Takes 3 Podium Finishes For Lucas Oil Off Road Final Round Heger fell just short as he was the runner up in the points for both Pro Lite and Production UTV division. Picking up two 2nd place podium finishes in the Challenge Cup events was a great way to end the season on a high note. "I started way back in 6th again for the Pro Lite event and found myself finishing in 2nd place. In the UTV Challenge Cup, I ended up finishing in 2nd and was the first naturally aspirated car with one turbo beating me for the victory." Brock Heger Takes 3 Podium Finishes For Lucas Oil Off Road Final Round “Overall it was a great year for Brock Heger Motorsports and I am grateful to all my partners for being a big part of the program.
