Youth Timing & Scoring

The number one goal is to create a safe separation gap between starting waves, while at the same time keeping racing 100% fair and equal for all participants.

  1. Youth races will start classes in multiple rows and each row will start at different start intervals.
  2. When the green flag drops for each row, the race clock will then start only for that row when the racers pass the start gate.
  3. Once the race clock expires for your row, your race will be complete the next time you cross the finish line but depending on what row you start in, you may not see a checkered flag. It is important to understand that we will not throw the checkered flag until the race clock is completed for the last row.

This means that if you start in the first row, you may actually run an extra few minutes while waiting for the final row to complete their race clock. Any laps crossed after your clock expires will not be counted and will not affect your race time and if you break after your clock expires, this will not count against you.

Because the youth track distances are so short, we are simply keeping everyone on track to avoid confusion of some racers getting the checkered flag and others not, and also to safely stop the racers altogether and at the same time.

For example, in a 25 minute race with a 9am start and 4 rows, one checkered flag falls for EVERYONE at 9:26:30:

Row Start Time Finish Time
Row 1 9:00:00 9:25:00
Row 2 9:00:30 9:25:30
Row 3 9:01:00 9:26:00
Row 4 9:01:30 9:26:30
