The Orion Car: Pro Unlimited UTV Vehicle Feature

Nov. 11, 2022
Off Road Racer Staff

Sourapas Orion Project video still The Orion car is the evolution of UTV racing vehicles. We started with relatively stock vehicles with basic modification but as the demands of off-road racing ravished every weak point of these incredibly durable production vehicles racers and builders created solutions. Enter off-road racer solution extraordinaire Doug Fortin. He has taken his 40 years of building Trophy Truck and Class 1 parts and built the next evolution of UTV racing. Besides winning the Baja 1000 twice overall in cars he built, Doug has raced in tons of desert races and shortcourse in both buggy and trucks so he uniquely understands the mechanical demands of off-road racing. Identifying the weak points of hubs, axles, and differentials, Doug redesigned, rebuilt, and in some cases replaced the factory parts with Fortin Racing components creating a new stronger platform that can take the speed and punishment that UTV’s are now facing in every race. Sourapas Orion Project video still The UTV class is the deepest class in all off-road racing, with the highest number of entries and the largest talent pool, so any advantage will help cross the finish line first. The Fortin Racing Orion package includes front and rear hubs and breaks, front and rear axels, an open front differential, PR3 2.0 Power Rack Steering System, and an Alternator Kit to power the upgraded system. Piloted by off-road champions Brett and Christian Sourapas the Orion car will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with in UTV racing.
