After a year of no-races due to Covid, RECORD Off-Road is going back to business stronger than ever, the +250 entries this weekend are a living testament that Off-Road in Ensenada is recovering and people is excited to get back to racing again.
The second race in the 2021 calendar for RECORD is arguably the most important race for the local community, the race track features most of the best areas that Baja have to offer in a point-to-point fashion starting in Ensenada and going to sections like Ojos Negros and Trinidad Valley, heading down to "El Chinero" and finishing right in the heart of San Felipe next to the Sea of Cortez.
Sadly, the off-road community lost a great one this weekend, John Langley, director of the popular tv show "COPS" and leader of the offroad team with the same name passed away during the race due to health conditions. John was racing in the #50 Open truck leading the race when a heart attack ended his race without any further notice. Those who knew John knows how passionate he was about Off-Road, always sponsoring local events and teams without asking anything in return. Ride in Peace, John.
"We were very excited for John’s participation, where unfortunately he said goodbye to us in this life race. We look forward to the prompt resignation of his family and friends". -Ramón Castro, RECORD race director.
... But the show must go on and the race went without any other mayor incident.
Only one race team was able to finish the race under 4 hours, a Class 10 driven by Moises Cuevas with a time of 3:57:42 managed to beat everyone else including the unlimited vehicles putting a drivings clinic to all the other competitors in the race.
#6109 Tony Murray and #278 Carlos Ibarra made the 1-2 in the Open Class completing the overall podium with #1010 Moises Cuevas on top as the Class 10 and overall winner.
In Class16, the most stacked field with 25 entries, #1629 Kevin Alcala, #1609 Jose David Ruvalcaba and #1673 Francisco Septien finished 1-2-3 respectively with only 6 minutes difference between them, an intense fight the whole 210 miles of enduring race course.
Now RECORD is preparing itself for one of their newest events and round 3 out of 5 of the 2021 RECORD serial, the Ensenada - San Quintin 250
