Two of desert motorcycle racing’s finest proved to be an unbeatable combination in Saturday’s BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400 Motorcycle Race, as the JCR Honda duo of Preston Campbell and Ricky Brabec dominated all day. When all was said and done, their #P3 machine finished six laps of a 60-mile course in 7:37:16.1, more than 15 minutes clear of their closest competition.

“We split up the duty today, and everything went well,” said Brabec, who also won this race alongside Kendall Norman in 2019 in the return of bikes after a 43-year absence. “We did three laps and three laps, and my first lap was probably the smoothest. On the last lap that I just did, the whoops and holes multiplied in size and depth. I’m glad to make it to the finish line, and Preston did a great job!”

“The morning was a little cold, but not too bad,” added Campbell, who also won the 2023 UNLTD Off-Road Racing season finale at the California 300 in Barstow. “We had to fight the shadows a little bit, but the course was more smooth. The fifth lap was way rougher than the first, and Ricky had an even rougher course on the last one, but the JCR Honda worked really well today.”

Saturday marked the second straight year that the Open Pro Motorcycle class locked out the top three spots, after multiple class winners were on the overall podium in 2022. 2021 winner Danny Cooper would settle into the second spot on corrected time, while Jesse Canepa would extend his multi-year podium streak as he came home third. Just eight teams of the more than 80 entered were able to finish all six laps of the race before time expired.
