Monster takes five of six Pro 4 podiums on weekend; Greaves wins in three divisions
The Monster Energy Championship Off-Road Pro 4 driver lineup of CJ Greaves, Johnny Greaves, and Kyle LeDuc had another dominant weekend of racing in Saturday and Sunday’s action from Bark River International Raceway. CJ Greaves and LeDuc split the two race victories, each finishing second in the race that the other won, and Johnny Greaves added a third place finish on Sunday to give the Monster squad five of a possible six class podiums on the event.
Saturday’s race saw LeDuc lead early before hitting a berm, which enabled CJ Greaves to take an early lead and spend most of the race up front. LeDuc would need to replace a tire, but he’d be able to stay on the lead lap and push his way back into second by race’s end. LeDuc’s luck would hold out a little better on Sunday, dominating from the front row for his third win in the past four races as CJ Greaves remained clean in second and Johnny Greaves soldiered on with a wounded truck to complete the podium.
CJ Greaves’ successes didn’t stop there, though. He kicked off the weekend with a victory in the Pro Stock SXS class on Saturday, and backed that up with a second place finish on Sunday. Just moments later, after multiple podiums and race leads this season, Greaves would finally break through on the Pro Turbo SXS front for the first time since switching manufacturers in the offseason. Leading from the start of the race, he withstood multiple challenges from other front-runners to take his long-awaited first class win of the year.
Finally, Gray Leadbetter added two podiums of her own in the Pro Spec class with finishes of second place on Saturday and third on Sunday. Despite not being able to add to her four wins on the season so far, she remains in a tie atop the class standings with just one race remaining.
The Monster Energy trio of CJ Greaves, LeDuc, and Johnny Greaves are back in the top three spots in Pro 4 points coming out of Bark River, with CJ Greaves currently holding a 30-point advantage out front. He also sits second in the Pro Stock SXS standings, just 22 points out of the lead, and maintains a top-10 spot in Pro Turbo SXS.
The 2022 Championship Off-Road season concludes on Labor Day weekend at Crandon International Raceway with the 53rd Annual World Championship Off-Road Races. Johnny Greaves swept last year’s COR Pro 4 finale and Pro 4 World Championship race before finishing second overall in the Pro 2 vs. Pro 4 Crandon World Cup race.
