Off-road racing returns to Primm, Nevada this weekend with the Legacy Racing Association Stateline Shootout, the third event of the series’ 2022 season and first since February’s Hare Scrambles. The action kicks off on Thursday afternoon with qualifying for the unlimited car and truck classes at 5PM local time, while two days of racing action get underway with staging at 6AM on Friday and Saturday for a litany of both limited and unlimited car, truck, and UTV classes.
The Stateline Shootout follows the two-day, multiple-heat format often seen at events with shorter courses. Each division will do eight laps per day on the nine-mile layout for a total of 16, while racers will have the opportunity to take a Joker Lap from their second lap forward once each day as well.
Desert Showdown winner Eric Hustead, Jonathan Brenthel, and Jack Olliges headline the entry list in Unlimited Truck, while Jake Johnson (Class 1) and Chasen Gaunt (Class 6100) will also look to back up their victories from Pahrump in January. The UTV Turbo class is loaded with front runners from last weekend’s Silver State 300, including Joe Terrana (second in UTV Turbo Pro), Dan Fisher (second in Trophy Unlimited), and Cameron Meister (fifth in Turbo Pro). Other Pahrump winners competing in the UTV classes include Jeremiah Scott in the Turbo division, Carson Wernimont in NA, and Nolan Williams in Unlimited.
NA UTV headlines the limited classes in the first heats, which will roll off at 6:30AM each day. The Turbo and Unlimited UTV classes will get going at 9, the remaining limited classes will get going at 11:15, Unlimited Truck and Class 1 will start at 1:30, and Classes 6100 and 6200 will run at 3:45.
Following the Stateline Shootout, the 2022 Legacy Racing Association season continues June 22-25 with the Vision Wheel Baja Nevada. Combined into one day for its second running, the 650-mile Baja Nevada course now represents one of the longest point-to-point desert races in North America.
