When you’re looking to conquer Johnson Valley on King of the Hammers week, it helps to ride with a King of your own. In Sunday’s Desert Invitational for unlimited vehicles, King Shocks swept all three divisions—T1 for unlimited trucks, T2 for unlimited suspension trucks with spec motors, and B1 for unlimited buggies—with an overall victory for Kyle Jergensen headlining the day. Jergensen’s victory came after surviving not only a 31-mile morning prologue, but also the immediate turnaround to run three laps on a grueling 84-mile desert course. After battling for the lead on the first lap, he’d establish himself in the position on the second and never look back, extending the advantage at race’s end to more than six minutes for the class victory and just under five for the overall win with a time of 4:50:45.981. Desert Challenge Unlimited BinkDesign ChristopherPolvoorde That second place overall finish went to T2 class winner Christopher Polvoorde, who got past multiple drivers on a blistering second lap of the race to settle into the position and hung on through the third. His race-winning time of 4:55:45.094 was also nearly five minutes better than anyone else in class, and he posted the quickest T2 lap by nearly two minutes. While King of the Hammers can often prove unpredictable no matter the circumstances, Adam Lunn’s victory in the B1 division was never really in doubt. Taking a class lead of more than six minutes on the first lap, the #103 machine added another nine minutes to the advantage on lap two and even were in the fight for a top-five finish. Lunn and teammate RJ Anderson’s final margin of victory was more than 36 minutes over their closest competition. Desert Challenge Unlimited Paolo Baraldi “We couldn’t have asked for a better kickoff to 2022 King of the Hammers week than our results in Sunday’s Desert Invitational,” said King Shocks owner and president Brett King. “Locking out all three unlimited class victories with Kyle, Christopher, and Adam sends a message to the world that if you want to win Hammers, you have to ride with King. We’re looking forward to even more big wins as the event continues, and hope to successfully defend last year’s podium lockout in the Race of Kings on Saturday!” Racing, prerunning or just having fun, whatever your application; King Shocks has the shock for you with the performance, reliability, precise tuning and adjustability you need. King Shocks, The Leader in Off-Road Technology!
