JD Marsh took the top spot in qualifying, and followed it up with a victory, in the 2021 UTV World Championship presented by Polaris RZR in the Pro UTV NA class on Saturday morning. Marsh overcame a second-lap flat tire and chased down Kaden Wells to retake the top spot heading into the final lap, and scored the unofficial win over Robert Enloe and Max Eddy Jr. at race’s end. Live coverage of the full day of racing, plus full unofficial results from the race, can be found at utvworldchampionship.com/live. “It was definitely an advantage having clean air,” Marsh said of the start to his race. “I knew Kaden was going to put down a heater behind me, so I set a qualifying pace during the first full lap, and when I came through he wasn’t far behind me still. I just kept pushing hard until I got a flat on the second lap—totally deserved, I hit a rock that was in a shadow, and we were down four minutes after that. Kaden got around us, and then we just played catch up all day long until he had a part failure and we got the win!” In the Pro UTV Unlimited class, Michael Mamelli Jr. was the first racer to cross the line, laying down a five-lap time of 4:28:31.653. Mamelli had qualified third in the Unlimited class but outlasted top qualifiers Trey Gibbs and Trevor Beurrier on the grueling 28.6-mile Lake Havasu course. The unofficial podium from Friday’s UTV World Championship Desert Pro NA class race was as follows:- #1969 JD Marsh, 4:00:53.120
- #1907 Robert Enloe, 4:07:22.101
- #1929 Max Eddy Jr., 4:08:38.910
