iRacing Off-Road Championship Series Race Preview: Wild West

July 5, 2022
Off Road Racer Staff

The inaugural iRacing Off-Road Championship Series season continues on Wednesday night with its first of two stops at Wild West Motorsports Park. As always, the action can be seen live at 8:30PM ET on twitch.tv/iracing with the All-Star race, followed by 24 sim racing pros doing battle for $25,000 in Pro 4 trucks at 9PM ET. Last Race: Four different drivers have won the first four rounds of the 16-race season, with a pair of Quebec-based crossover drivers from iRacing’s World of Outlaws pro series sweeping Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park. Team ABR’s Alex Bergeron, long the driver to beat in the Sprint Car division, scored his first win of the season in the first race, while Jim Beaver eSports driver Felix Roy muscled his way up front in the second race and pulled away for a win of his own as the field fought for second behind him. Team General Tire’s Connor Barry remained the points leader on the strength of two top-five finishes. All-Stars: For the third round in a row, real-world Pro Buggy driver Zachary Drapkin won the first race at Wild Horse Pass as the All-Star field switched to running Pro 2 Lites for the week. But with 24 All-Stars and a full-field invert to go up against in the second race, it’d be a tougher climb to the front the second time around. Drapkin and fellow real-world racer Luke Knupp, who posted the fastest laps in both races, would get back into podium contention, but 2013 eNASCAR champion and iRacing eSports senior competition manager Tyler Hudson would hang on for the win after getting around the Traxion.gg duo of Justin Melillo and Keenan “Aero” Kusan earlier in the race. Track Info: Located just outside of Reno, Nevada, Wild West Motorsports Park was a staple of the southwestern off-road landscape for nearly a decade before its closure last summer. Situated on the side of a mountain, the track features numerous elevation changes on its 1.5-mile layout, and some of the fastest speeds and biggest jumps of any off-road track on iRacing. As one of the first two off-road tracks to come to the service in 2019, Wild West helped lay the foundation for the iRacing Off-Road Championship Series to come just a few short years later. The iRacing Off-Road Championship Series is supported by CBR Performance Products, Vision Wheel, and Big Green Egg. For more information on iRacing and for special offers, visit www.iracing.com.
