Off Road Racer Staff

Off-road racers and fans who want to take the thrill of short course racing home have never had a better opportunity to do so than right now on iRacing. With today’s 2023 Season 1 release, Wild West Motorsports Park has been added to iRacing’s base content package, meaning all users will receive the track free as part of their active subscription. While closed in the real world, the Sparks, NV-based facility lives on in the virtual one as the first short course track to be included with every iRacing membership. iRacing simulates hundreds of the world’s most prominent cars and tracks, including NASCAR, open-wheel racing, sports cars, sprint cars, and rallycross. Off-road truck racing was added in mid-2019 with Wild West and Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park, and Crandon International Raceway and Bark River International Raceway have joined the service since then. This summer, iRacing ran its first-ever Off-Road Championship Series for professional sim racers, with real-world Pro Lite racer Connor Barry winning the championship and the largest share of a $25,000 prize pool. iRacing Motorsport Simulator Screenshot iRacing’s base content package includes dozens of these cars and tracks for free, while the rest are offered as a la carte add-ons. Those looking to race off-road have both a Pro Lite truck and two versions of the Volkswagen Beetle rallycross car to choose from. Rallycross tracks at Charlotte Motor Speedway, Daytona International Speedway, and Phoenix Raceway have long been available for free to all users, but Wild West marks the first short course track to join the included package. Other pieces of free content include the Dallara DW12 IndyCar, WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca, and numerous entry-level oval and road racing vehicles. New iRacing users looking to work their way up the license ladder start in the Rookie class, which uses free content exclusively and puts every driver in a standard setup. As drivers continue to progress through the ladder, they’re put in more challenging divisions on a wider range of tracks, with full setup customizations at the highest levels. The top drivers in those highest levels qualify for the Off-Road Championship Series that starts in June for a chance to do battle for cash prizes. iRacing Motorsport Simulator Screenshot Users who want to try iRacing for the first time can get 50% off the price of a new subscription through January 8, while existing members can save 25% on renewing an active account or reactivating a lapsed one through December 16, as part of its annual Holiday Sale.
