Important Vegas to Reno Course Update - BITD vs. Mother Nature
In spite of torrential rainstorms dumping more rain than this race course has seen in over 30 years, BEST IN THE DESERT'S METHOD RACE WHEELS CASEY FOLKS VEGAS TO RENO is all set to launch Friday morning, August 12th. Carrying on Casey Folks' legendary reputation as a Can-Do racer and event organizer, the race will go on regardless of what Mother Nature throws at us! This isn’t the first time Best In The Desert has had to adapt the race course to successfully pull off a race. But most importantly, the race will go on. There is still a start. Still a finish. Still points to be earned. Still the highest level of competition there is. And still celebrations to be had. Important race course changes due to these monsoons: 1. Race will start in Bonnie Claire instead of Beatty and race full speed to Tonopah. 2. All vehicles will then transfer to Millers, avoiding several feet of impassable water between Tonopah and Millers. 3. You will have a set time to load up and transfer to Millers. 4. You will then restart from Millers and race full speed to the finish in Dayton. THANK YOU BLM PERSONNEL Due to our more than 25 years of great working relationships with the BLM, they persevered and helped us set up these changes to the course so every racer can have the adventure of a lifetime. GOOD NEWS - NO DAMAGE OR CHANGES TO HEAD TO HEAD TIME TRIALS! The Head to Head Time Trials course was not affected in any way, so Time Trials will go on as planned on Thursday. COMPLETE DETAILS ON RACE COURSE CHANGES WILL BE ANNOUNCED AT THE DRIVERS' MEETING WEDNESDAY.VEGAS TO RENO RACE DETAILS and HOW TO VIEW HEAD TO HEAD TIME TRIALS
