The King Of The Hammers Desert Championship kicked off a big week of off-road racing in Johnson Valley, California. Chase Warren brings in the big win in his Alumi Craft Race Car's Class 10 Buggy. Saturday's Limited Class competition saw a mix of Desert Class 10, Desert B2, UTV Pro, UTV Stock Turbo, UTV Stock NA, Desert Class 5 Unlimited and Desert Trophylite vehicles. Overall there were 82 competitors in the event with 18 other Desert Class 10 racers.
Chase Warren racing his #1088 Alumi Craft car, had a total time on course of 4 Hours, 16 Minutes, and 39.716 Seconds. Warren beat Mitch Guthrie Jr. driving an all-wheel-drive Polaris RZR Pro R B2 car by over four and half minutes, who finished 2nd fastest overall. The second-place Desert Class 10 car of Brady Wisdom was over ten minutes behind Warren's race-winning time
Warren won the Desert Class 10 division and the 2022 King of the Hammers Toyo Tires Desert Challenge Limited Overall Championship. They earned a $10,000 check to go with it. Chase has been on a roll lately, coming off another big win during the 2021 Mint 400.
The race format for the King Of The Hammers Desert Championship consisted of a 33-mile prologue first lap. Each racer would run this leg, aiming to lay down the quickest time to determine who would start up front for the remainder of the race. At this point, all racers in all divisions would be restacked according to their timed run in the prologue. The rest of the race included another 33-mile loop and two larger 85-mile laps. Chase Warren blasted his Alumi Craft Class 10 through the desert with the fastest time in the prologue and continued his dominance to the finish-winning wire-to-wire.
"The day was great. Everything was just flawless. We did not have any flat tires and the BFGoodrich Tires were great all day. It was just a great run. We stopped once for fuel, you know, a quick 30 second stop and we were back out again. This course was a lot of fun!"
Warren's co-driver Marty also shared. "I was here last year and this year was just absolutely perfect. We ran a good qualifying run. We got a good start on the pole and got lighter from the wire to the end. So it was a good day. No issues at all."
Chase continued, "I have to thank Marty. It was another perfect race he called! My whole team and family are out here, my dad and our mechanic Scott Frill. The car has been perfect and I think we got the best package in this Alumi Craft you can have for this class. Thank you, everyone, at Ultra4 & USAC, for a super cool event to be a part of."
