Championship Off-Road's third season continues this weekend with a return to Crandon International Raceway, as the 29th Annual Forest County Potawatomi Brush Run takes over The Big House for three days of premier short course action. Friday opens the weekend with free admission to practice for all classes and qualifying for the pros, while two days of racing action await on Saturday and Sunday. It all concludes with Sunday afternoon's Community Cup race, where the Pro 2 and Pro 4 teams will go head-to-head in a dash for cash.
CJ Greaves remains the driver to beat in the Pro 4 class, carrying the momentum of a season-opening sweep at Antigo Lions Roaring Raceway into Crandon, while Brock Heger did the same in Pro Lite. The duo have also renewed their battle in Pro Stock SXS for this season, although Heger and his Yamaha have the early edge thanks to beating Greaves and his new Polaris RZR in both Antigo races. Greaves also sits sixth in the early Pro Turbo SXS standings after an up-and-down return to the class, as the father-son duo of Rodney and Owen VanEperen lead the way.
Pro 2, meanwhile, remains the closely matched battle that it's been in recent years. Kyle Kleiman was the only driver to stand on the podium both days in Antigo, but he's still just second in points; Ricky Gutierrez's win in the second race gives him the incoming edge by four points. Defending Community Cup winner Jerett Brooks posted the fastest lap in both Antigo races but still sits third in points, while defending class champion Keegan Kincaid had a weekend to forget and will look to make a comeback at his hometown event.
The group of former Community Cup winners on this weekend's entry list reads like a who's who of short course racing. Besides defending winner Brooks, the race has also seen Kleiman, Kincaid, and Johnny Greaves stand on top of the podium. Pro 4 legend Greaves has more wins than anyone in this race with six, but Pro 2s have won four of the last six Community Cup events.
Championship Off-Road Crandon Brush Run action will stream live throughout the weekend on FloRacing, with television coverage coming to the CBS Sports Network in the coming months. Following Crandon, the COR season resumes on July 15-16 with a visit to ERX Motor Park in Minnesota.
