Off Road Racer Staff
AMSOIL Championship Off-Road is thrilled to welcome Mike Reusche as the Series Relations Director for the 2024 season. His experience in short-course off-road and other racing disciplines brings a unique perspective that aligns with Champ-Off-Road. Mike looks forward to connecting with Champ competitors and working together to develop solutions that keep short-course off-road racing healthy and viable for current and future generations of racers.
Mike Reusche has always been passionate about off-road racing; it's in his DNA. In 1969, Mike and his father, Phil, watched dune buggies and jeeps race up and down the dunes at Miller Beach, Indiana. During the 1970s and 1980s, Mike and his father, Phil, became involved in Midwest off-road racing. They raced and built a business that included off-road components and parts, chassis, and safety equipment.
Additionally, Phil was a member of 4x4 Unlimited and was an integral part of the early success of off-road racing in the Midwest. This included bringing Mickey Thompson, Sal Fish, Lynn Chenowth, Gil George, Jean Calvin, and Judy Smith back to the annual Lake Geneva, Wisconsin race to see what Middle America had to offer the sport.
For the past 25 years, Reusche has worked in various motorsports roles. In off-road racing, he has created race reports, press releases, and digital recaps for multiple teams, including Off-Road Hall of Fame members Scott Douglas and Scott Taylor. As one of the founders of Midwest Off-Road Racing (MORR), he also had a strong connection with Sportsman short-course racers.
The Crandon group gave Mike the opportunity to promote a Sportsman Truck Cup Race, which he held for two consecutive years. Then, a couple of years later, with the help of Al McMillan, a group of MORR members, and experienced short-course track workers, he organized a non-points short-course race in Hartford, Michigan.
A slight career change led Reusche to employment at Lane Automotive’s marketing department. One of his responsibilities is representing the company and its private brands, including Motor State Distributing and Allstar Performance, at various motorsports events throughout the Midwest. These include Circle Track, Drag, Pro-Touring, and Off-Road events.
Most recently, Reusche spent three years marketing the Reveal The Hammer Outlaw Late Model Tour, attracting racers from the Midwest and Canada.
Outside of work, Mike and his wife, Teri, enjoy boating and fishing on Lake Michigan and the St. Joseph River in southwest Michigan.
Throughout Mike's career, effective communication through listening and talking with people has always been a key to his success. "Whether it's customers, competitors, vendors, promoters, or fans, engaging in meaningful conversations and finding viable solutions is essential for building successful relationships. As a member of the Champ Off-Road team, I‘m looking forward to meaningful conversations with AMSOIL Championship Off-Road series competitors and working together to create viable solutions to their concerns and issues.”
